Tournament day checklist

Everything to pack the night before. Tick items off as you go; your ticks stay saved on this phone or computer.

Documents

Age proof: original and a photocopy Birth certificate, passport or Aadhaar. This decides your age group.
Bonafide certificate From your school or college. Often required at state and national level.
Printed entry confirmation Only if the tournament asks for it. Check the tournament page.
Association or federation ID card If you have one.
Two passport-size photos
Medical fitness certificate Only if the tournament asks for it.

Uniform and protective gear

Taekwondo uniform (dobok) and belt Clean and ironed. Carry a spare if you have one.
Head gear
Chest guard (hogu) Some tournaments provide these. Check before you go.
Forearm and shin guards
Groin guard
Mouth guard
Gloves and foot protectors Electronic sensor socks if the tournament uses electronic scoring.
Track suit, spare clothes and slippers

Food and drinks

Water: two bottles
ORS or lemonade Sip between bouts to replace salts.
Fruit: bananas and apples
Dry fruits: dates, almonds, raisins
Candy or glucose tablets For a quick sugar boost before a bout.
Light snacks Avoid heavy meals before weigh-in and your bouts.

Personal

Hair clips and hair bands Hair must be tied back and off the face.
Nail clipper Nails must be short.
Towel and tissues
Small first-aid kit Plasters, pain-relief spray, any medicines you take.
Phone, charger and some cash

Before you leave

Weigh yourself at home So there are no surprises at the weigh-in.
Check the weigh-in time and venue address
Put your name on your kit bag and gear
Sleep early the night before
